Photos to Follow, but we wanted to make sure and get the word out that on Saturday, August 16th, the YRFV had approximately 20 Young Republicans from all over the Commonwealth gather in the City of Lynchburg to support our 2008 ticket.
Delegate Ben Cline and Delegate and RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick addressed the YR gathering at lunch at Liberty University. They encouraged us to keep up the good work and continue growing our YR Clubs in the Commonwealth.
Our YR contingent went door-to-door in Campbell County and the City of Lynchburg and made some phone calls making approximately 500-voter contacts in a single day for Congressman Bob Goodlatte, Governor Gilmore and Senator John McCain. We also provided literature for the ticket. Door-to-door in the 'holler" isn't like door-to-door in NoVa, there is a pretty good distance between doors, so it was a tremendous effort.
The response from local citizens we met was overwhelmingly positive. Their issues of import to the 6th District focused on the economy, national security and the price of gas. We would be surprised if Congressman Goodlatte and Senator McCain received anything below +65-70% in the 6th District.
Way to go YRFV! Thanks again to our current clubs and clubs about to charter in Lynchburg, Patrick and Henry Counties and Harrisonburg.
